    Pre owned, surface marks and scratches from use, appears to be in good working order, good drag set screw, does not have a brake to prevent user from turning handle in either direction, will need detail cleaning and lubrication.
    Detail on the Johnson Model 40 Reel made in 1951.  Casting reel made on the spinning or fixed spool principle. Cannot backlash. Use on standard casting rod, spinning rod or flyrod. No thumbing necessary; constant drag for trolling: adjustable drag for playing hooked fish. Hard plated chrome rotor and automatic line pick-up. Green anodized aluminum case, all parts rustproof. To be used with light test lines. In 1952 Johnson issued the Model 40A sidewinder reel.
